Data visualization has never mattered more: how I transformed musical notes into improvement
Overview
Muse Scene Lab is a Spanish start-up in the process of developing the first VR immersive music education application, with the goal of helping students and professionals to elaborate their musical skills and provide them with a virtual orchestra to rehearse.

Process
Research & Planning
The biggest concern when we were first briefed the project was diving deep into all the orchestra knowledge that we could, since my team and I, through all music lovers, we lacked the knowledge on how such a huge music ensemble worked. Next, we focused on our user, orchestra conductor students.
Have you ever met one? Neither had we, so we had a lot to research.
User Interviewing
We identified over a dozen potential interviewees within a span of 72 hours. We delved into their daily habits, their distinct priorities, their adopted learning styles. We explored what enhances their outputs, the unique aspects of their career trajectory that they seek to master for success. We enquired into how they gauge their growth and which particular areas they need to concentrate on, and what they would like digital assistance with.

Prototyping & Testing
Executed comprehensive trials across all our visual layouts, ranging from simple sketches to the ultimate prototype, which enabled us to obtain consumer insights via pre-release testing and progressively enhance the application using usability statistics and user contentment.
Outcome
Through extensive research and testing, we reached several key solutions to enhance the user experience. First, we focused on finding the right visuals to help users track their improvement over time. Next, we integrated a music library, recognizing the importance of providing easy and direct access to various genres and compositions. This allows learners to securely save captivating pieces and explore valuable knowledge about each one. Finally, we developed customizable settings that empower users to adjust scheduling preferences and priorities to suit their individual needs. Each of these solutions was carefully crafted to support and optimize the learning journey.
